We had a lovely relaxing week at Les Noisiettiers in October this year with 6 of our friends. The house and apartment were beautifully equipped and very comfortable and the information Dianne and Peter provided was very helpful. We explored the Charente region, had lots of lovely meals out and sat on the river drinking wine and enjoying the ambience. James and I returned in early November and spent a month in the apartment. We had the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday, spending time in the village with its lovely patisserie and market, and exploring some of the smaller towns in the region. Many thanks to Dianne and Peter for providing such a well equipped and comfortable apartment in such a beautiful part of France. Jenny and James.

Testimonial * We chose Les Noisetiers as a one week rest and recreation stay towards the end of three months travelling. It was perfection. A beautifully appointed apartment adjoining the main house, with a well equipped kitchen and excellent produce available locally. We ate out a couple of times at nearby restaurants as a break to our own cooking. We were fortunate to have Dianne and Peter at the main house for the first couple of days. Dianne prepared a wonderful dinner for our first night, which we enjoyed by the river on a balmy autumn evening.
We followed Dianne and Peter’s recommendations for driving to local points of interest as explained in their very comprehensive house manual.
We highly recommend the house and the location. Dianne and Peter are perfect hosts providing perfect accommodation and hospitality. They truly care for their guests ensuring the best possible experience in the Montignac-Charente region.

We enjoyed a week at Les Noisetiers in July, relaxing by the river, canoeing, dining alfresco under the grape vine arbour, walking around the village and exploring towns further afield. The gorgeous house and garden are as stunning in reality as the photos on the website. Everything was beautifully presented and every imaginable need was met with a well stocked kitchen, bicycles, linen, tourist books and maps of the area. It was a delight to share the French Escape.

We four adults stayed in Les Noisetiers for a week in early May. The weather proved to not be the best (showery and cold) but the house and yard were perfect. We have rented other houses in France owned by Australians and have loved them but this house is the best in a great location In France and in an interesting village. We used the house as our base and headed off each day on 2-3 hour drives to areas nearby, always returning each evening so our fellow traveller Greg, an experienced chef could cook dinner in the very well-equipped kitchen or use the great pizza oven or bbq. The riverside location was not only a true beauty spot but great to sit beside weather-permitting. We met many very friendly locals on our evening walks with several of them helped us out when it was needed. We read heaps, watched DVDs played board games, snoozed drank some great wine and relaxed in the comfort of the house as though we were back at home. The house is equipped immaculately with very comfy beds and even when the weather was showery we would sit near the kitchen window looking at the beautiful scenery of the Charente river. We all loved staying there but recommend that if you hire a car make sure it is not too wide because the entry from the street is very narrow. At the same time, most houses in the old parts of villages don't have any parking so even though the entry to the yard from the street was narrow, it was a bonus to be able to park so close to the front door to carry suitcases and groceries.

Testimonial *Our most relaxing holiday ever in this lovely unspoiled historic part of the world. We found the house charming, the apartment very comfortable and well equipped, and we enjoyed strolling to the village to buy fresh food including baguettes from the bakery. Coffee at the pub was a pleasant morning ritual, an ideal place to observe the people and lifestyle where many locals greeted us with a friendly, "Bon Jour!" We explored the area on foot, bikes and in canoes available at the house. The delightful setting by the river was perfect for lazy afternoons, drinks and dinner. Church bells, a neighbour drawing water from the river in a bucket on a rope to water his garden and next door calling "hello" and asking where we were from all added to the charm. Spotted a family of what we thought may have been European Beaver foraging on the opposite riverbank around 7.00pm most evenings. A heartwarming and memorable experience.

We were very fortunate to discover this delightful property at a French Festival on the Gold Coast. The owners were very helpful booking the accommodation and were pleased to be met at the Angouleme train station and driven to the property. We were located in a two story, one b/r apartment adjoining the house in this tiny village of Montignac.
It proved to be very comfortable and conveniently located close to the township. The property has delightful surroundings on the Charente River which is suitable for swimming, fishing canoeing and whilst we didn't make use of them found this outdoor area great for relaxing.
Dianne and Peter are superb hosts, extremely friendly, and with a great deal of knowledge about this beautiful region.
We would highly recommend this property which gave us a great week to get a good feel for country France.

The perfect location for a French holiday. Charming accommodation in a quaint village, the house is set right on the banks of the Le Cherante river and you are just a very short stroll along the river to the village centre. The village is surrounded by beautiful walks and rides in the countryside and is very central to any number of local sights. The house was very comfortable, spacious and well appointed. Dianne and Peter were perfect hosts, eager to please and wonderful to deal with. We will have no hesitation in booking again when next in France.

This year I took on the task of finding a house for 8 "somewhere in Europe" for a week over Christmas. I was lucky enough to happen upon Les Noisetiers in Montignac-Charante. Along with our adult children and their 4 friends we had a wonderful Christmas week in this magnificent house. The house is roomy and comfortable, the furnishings are interesting and authentic. The kitchen is equipped plentifully and is a joy to cook in. We hadn't expected the very mild weather which allowed us to enjoy the outside areas along the river and the canoeing. Every morning we feasted on fresh croissants from the boulangerie and shopped in the market in the main street. We visited a few of the nearby villages on foot and enjoyed the French countryside. The village people were very friendly and helpful. I think we will be back in the summer season just to see the difference!

We have very fond memories of our week long stay in the beautiful Les Noisettiers in September . It was everything we imagined a holiday in the French countryside to be. Each morning we walked along the river into the village to buy our baguette and croissants from the boulangerie where we found the locals to be very friendly and helpful then ‘home’ for coffee and breakfast in the sunny kitchen with a view of the weeping willows spilling over the river. Lunch was often further afield as we explored not just the local villages but also the region. Afternoons were spent lazing by the river, canoeing, swimming or reading and later sipping cool aperitifs in the garden by the river. This idyll was followed by dinner prepared from local ingredients purchased at the village market , deli etc and eaten in the garden by candlelight, washed down of course by lots of French wine.

The local area is very pretty and can be explored on foot. The abbey museum and restaurant in nearby St. Amant de Boixe were well worth the short walk.
We visited several picturesque villages and chateaux within 30 mins drive of Montignac but also ventured further afield to historic Cognac, La Rochelle, and the market day in Brantomme, all within driving distance in a day.

The house was very comfortable, well equipped and well situated. We can’t wait to return!

We were all a bit travel weary so Les Noisetiers was the perfect place to stop, relax and imbibe the French village atmosphere. Words to describe Les Noisetiers include charming, spacious, well situated and a sense of country luxury. Everything was generously and thoughtfully provided. It was a wonderful opportunity to live in a beautiful, authentic French stone house and experience being a “local.” We shopped in the village markets, charcuterie and boulangerie (all very friendly and tolerant of our school French), cooked in the well-equipped kitchen, and often ate outside beside the Charente River, a picturesque setting. We also checked out some of the excellent local restaurants. We walked to local towns for coffee and cake, went to the musical festival at La Dom, canoed in the Charente (very peaceful), and ventured further afield to the beautiful La Rochelle and Cognac. There’s great local places to explore, but it was also an excellent place to stop, laze around, and be really comfortable experiencing living in France

The comfortable bedrooms, spacious living area and superbly equipped kitchen at Les Noisetiers in Montignac-Charente meant that our holiday exceeded all our expectations. My extended family of 11 - grandparents, children and grandchildren - stayed for three weeks in this beautiful house. We swam in the river, dined in the garden and travelled to the many beautiful villages, chateaux and markets that are nearby. The village is lively and welcoming. Our holiday was unforgettable.
